KEMBAR is a new fashion brand that specializes in fashionable clothing for petite women. Petite refers to women who are up to 1.60 meter  (approximately 5 feet 3 inches) tall.

WHO ARE WE?

We are Lakeisha and Shaïsta, twin sisters who share a big passion for fashion. We have always struggled with finding clothes that fit our petite size, standing at only 1.49 meter (4'11 feet) tall.

OUR JOURNEY

Our journey to finding fitting clothes and shoes has been a challenging one. We realized that many other woman were struggling with the same issue, and we knew we had to find a solution for it.

In the Netherlands, where the average woman is the tallest (1.69 m), there is a shortage of petite clothing. However, the Netherlands is becoming more diverse. There are many Asian, South American and Eastern European women in the Netherlands, and they are often shorter than most Dutch women. We would like to offer them more clothing choices.

Even though many more petite collections added to brands nowadays, only a few focus on petite fashion and are experts in it. There is still a lack of petite clothing in the Netherlands. Many petite brands are often not petite, trendy or affordable enough.

We aim to become the Go-To Shop for petite clothing. We want people to stop altering their clothes all the time and buy the perfect fit. In addition, we would like to create a community for petite women.

MEANING OF KEMBAR

The name Kembar means twins in the Indonesian language. We have chosen the Indonesian meaning of twins since our inspiration for this fashion brand occured while living in Indonesia. During our time abroad, we decided to make tailored suits at a market in Central-Jakarta. Shopping for fabric, buttons and deciding on our own designs made us realize how passionate we were about creating our own clothes. We also realized that this is what we wanted to do someday. While wandering through the market we kept hearing ‘Kembar!’.
